Sri Lanka managed to secure a place in the final of Asia Cup 2022, with the conclusion of Pakistan-Afghanistan super 4 game held yesterday (07th September) in Dubai.

Pakistan who defeated Afghanistan by 1 wicket in the 4th match of Super Four stage of the tournament, also found a place in the final alongside Sri Lanka.

Both Sri Lanka and Pakistan have registered 2 wins out of 2 games played so far which enabled them to qualify for the final. As a result, the other two teams in the Super 4 stage India and Afghanistan will be knocked out of the tournament.

Though, India and Afghanistan are already eliminated from Asia Cup Final race, they will engage in a dead rubber today (08th September) in the 5th Super Four game of the tournament. Meanwhile, the finalists Sri Lanka and Pakistan will also get a chance to have crack at each other before the big final on Friday (09th September) in the last Super Four game of the tournament.

It will be a great opportunity for both teams to fine tune their team combinations and pick the best possible playing XI for the clash on Sunday. Sri Lanka last played in a final of Asia Cup 8 years ago in 2014, where they defeated Pakistan by 5 wickets (50-over format) to clinch their 5th Asia Cup trophy.
