Sri Lanka Men’s & Women’s teams crashed out of the quarter final stage of the Asian U19 Beach Volleyball Championships 2018 (Asian Zone) in Nakhon Pathom, Thailand.

Sri Lanka defeats strong Japan

Sri Lanka defeated Japan in their first match in the Men’s category..

The men’s team qualified for the round of 16 defeating Japan and Philippines in the group stage. In the round of 16 the duo of Mahela Indeewara and Kavindu Malinda met Y.H. Kwok and S.H.Kan from Hong Kong. The Hong Kong duo gave a good fight but Sri Lanka managed to win 21-16 & 21-16.

The men’s team lost to eventual champions Indonesia in the quarter final. Danang Herlambang & Bintang Akbar were too good as they cruised to a 21-11 & 21-13 win.

After suffering a defeat against Thailand on day one Sri Lanka Women’s team defeated Singapore to secure a quarter final place. Dilukshi Harshani and Rashmi Diwyanjali outplayed Tan K.Y.A and Ng S. 21-17 & 21-14.

New age group for DSI Schools’ Volleyball Championship

The 2018 DSI Supersport Schools’ Volleyball Championship will..

However, in the quarter final Vitria Rahayu and Ragil Ningtyas of Indonesia comfortably defeated the Sri Lanka duo 21-13 & 21-11.

“We won easily today. Sri Lanka also played well, but they made more mistakes than us,” said Vitria Rahayu through an interpreter.
