Sri Lanka Netball Head Coach Granted an Extension

The Sri Lanka Netball Federation (SLNF) has decided to appoint a new National Netball Coach aiming at all international tournaments in 2024.  Applications were considered, with the closing date having been November 25th. It was reported that some of the veteran coaches have applied to this position to fulfill this need.

With all things considered, SLNF has decided to grant the Head Coach position to former Sri Lankan Netball player P. D. N. Prasadi as an extension of her position as the Head Coach from the Nations Cup Netball Tournament which was held in October recently. This decision was mainly taken targeting the Asian Netball Cup in 2024, as well as all the other international championships.

Former National Assistant Coach P. D. N. Prasadi was appointed as the new National Coach for the Nation Cup Netball Tournament on the 22nd of September. Prasadi is a leading player who represented the national netball team from 1993 to 2003, and they won the Asian Championship in 1997 under her leadership. She has vast experience in coaching as well.

The former Warrant Officer of the Sri Lanka Army who rendered commendable service as the Head Coach of the Army Netball team served as the Assistant Coach to former Head Coach Thilaka Jinadasa and Deepthi Alwis. Prasadi, a product of Dammissara National College, Nattandiya, already has solid knowledge about the National pool, having worked with the players as well. Prasadi, who was the Secretary of the Netball Coaches Association, also held the post of Secretary of the Puttalam District Netball Association.

The selections for the National Netball Squad will be held on the 21st of December at Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium. Players above the height of 5 feet and 8 inches will be prioritized and mainly focused on during the selection trial.
