After a long wait, Sri Lankan domestic football is finally back Sand the opening week kicked off with real tempo and intensity. The country’s second-tier competition returned with plenty of action, offering an early glimpse of the teams pushing for promotion and momentum.

Group B opened the season with Moragasmulla and Pelicans playing out a 1–1 draw, a match that shifted in spells but ended with both sides settling for a point. Sri Lanka Police then delivered one of the standout performances of the week, securing a confident 3–1 win over Super Sun through organised play and sharp finishing. Solid SC and St. Mary’s closed the group’s fixtures with a 0–0 draw, a tight contest where neither side could break the deadlock.

In Group A, Serendib made the biggest statement, dismantling SLTB 6–0 in a dominant showing that showcased their attacking firepower. Saunders SC followed with a competitive 2–1 victory over Crystal Palace, handling the pressure well after taking the lead. New Star SC wrapped up Week 1 with an assured 3–0 win against Negombo Youth, controlling the game and capitalising on their chances.

A high-energy restart for Sri Lanka’s second-tier league — and if Week 1 is anything to go by, the season promises competitiveness, goals, and plenty of storylines ahead.
