Asia’s number 1 Netball team, Singapore is set to tour Sri Lanka from the 27th – 30th May for an invitational quadrangular tournament to be played at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium in Colombo.

Army SC defeated the much-fancied Air Force SC and Navy SC to clinch the 2018..
The tournament, organized by the Netball Federation of Sri Lanka (NFSL), will feature two national teams in Singapore and hosts Sri Lanka, along with the Sri Lanka Development team and the PStar Netball Club from England.
The tournament will be played on a round-robin basis, with each team playing 3 games, at the end of which the top two teams will battle it out for the championship while the other two teams clash in the 3rd place playoff.
According to Trixie Nanayakkara, President of the NFSL, this tournament has been organized with the objective of providing the national team vital match practice ahead of the Asian Netball Championships set to be held from the 1st – 10th of September in Singapore.
Singapore and Sri Lanka have been great rivals on the Netball court over the years, battling out many a close encounter, particularly at the Asian Netball Championships. Over the last 10 Championships, Singapore and Sri Lanka have managed to lay claim to the title on 7 occasions – dominating the region.
Mercantile wins Inter-Association Netball Championship
Mercantile Netball Association was crowned Champions at the 2018..
However, during the recent past, Singapore have certainly had the upper hand over the islanders as they climbed to 20th in the World Netball Rankings, while Sri Lanka trail in 25th place, behind the other Asian superpower Malaysia (24th). The two teams will kick-off the tournament on Sunday (27th) in what is sure to be an exciting game.
