Sri Lanka ‘A’ put on a commanding display on Day 2 of the second four-day match against Australia ‘A’, resuming their first innings at 263/4 and powering their way to a formidable 485/6 before declaring. The day was marked by a stellar century from Pavan Rathnayake, a resilient knock from Sonal Dinusha, and a fine half-century from wicket-keeper batter Sohan de Livera. 

Starting the day with an overnight score of 43 not out, Pavan Rathnayake anchored the innings with composure and flair. Alongside Sonal Dinusha, he forged a crucial 170-run partnership for the fifth wicket, frustrating the Australian ‘A’ bowling attack.

Rathnayake’s impeccable century—122 runs off 223 balls, studded with 16 fours— showcased his ability to blend caution with aggression. His disciplined yet attacking approach laid a solid foundation for Sri Lanka ‘A’ to build a massive total. 

Sonal Dinusha complemented Rathnayake’s brilliance with a gritty 88 runs off 191 balls, including 4 fours. Falling just short of a deserved century, Dinusha’s resilient knock provided stability and momentum for Sri Lanka ‘A’ innings.

Batting at No. 7, wicket-keeper batter Sohan de Livera added further firepower to Sri Lanka ‘A’s innings with a well-crafted half-century. In reply, Australia ‘A’ posted 76 runs for 1 wicket at the close of play on Day 2.
