The national selectors have cut down the initial 48 to a 25 man squad for the Asia U20 7s series to be held in Hong Kong next month. They will further trim it down to 15 this week with a final squad of 12 to travel alongside 3 players on stand-by.

Sri Lanka emerged Champions at last year’s competition and will be all out to defend the title. This year there will only be one leg with Hong Kong hosting the tournament on the 4th & 5th of August 2017.

The 25-man squad includes 10 players who have already competed in the Dialog Club Rugby League, adding some experience to the fray, something that proved to be advantageous to the Kevin Dixon led Junior Tuskers last year. Navy SC trio Lahiru Herath, Thanuja Maduranga and Supun Dilshan who were standouts in the League will be favourtes to make the final squad.
