Sri Lanka faced a tough challenge from hosts Indonesia at the Women’s AHF Cup 2025. After trailing 2–0 at one stage, the courageous Lankan ladies managed to level the game by scoring two goals.

Until the 20th minute, both teams failed to score. Suddenly, the hosts took control, netting two thunderous goals within just a couple of minutes.

Sri Lanka then managed to score their first goal when Shehani Madaragoda deflected a superb pass from Ishara Ratnayake. Indonesia managed to maintain their lead throughout the third quarter.

On the brink of the full-time whistle, the Sri Lankan lasses earned a few penalty corners. The most consistent player for Sri Lanka, Nipuni Fernando, found the back of the net once again to equalize the game.

Thanks to her game-saving heroics, Nipuni Fernando was named Player of the Match.
