Nine more matches of the SLC U23 Inter-Club 2-Day Tournament 2026 got underway today (1st July) at several venues across the island, with several standout individual performances dominating the opening day’s play.
With the bat, Pawan Pathiraja of Ace Capital Cricket Club, Hirun Kapurubandara of Badureliya Sports Club, and Ranuda Somarathne of Sinhalese Sports Club stole the limelight by producing impressive centuries to put their respective teams in commanding positions.

The standout bowling performance of the day came from Vihas Thevmika of Tamil Union Cricket and Athletic Club, who delivered a sensational spell to claim eight wickets, producing one of the finest bowling performances of the tournament so far.
Several other bowlers also enjoyed memorable outings, with Kaveesha Piyumal (Bloomfield Cricket and Athletic Club), Kevin Nanayakkara (Ragama Cricket Club), Thimira Irushika (Chilaw Marians Cricket Club), and Pathum Vihanga (Sri Lanka Army Sports Club) each finishing with impressive five-wicket hauls for their respective teams.
