The last six matches of the preliminary round of the SLC Major Clubs 50 Over Tournament 2025 worked off today with Police Sports Club, Colts Cricket Club, Colombo Cricket Club and Tamil Union Cricket & Athletic Club securing their places in the Semi Finals.
Sri Lanka Test skipper Dhananjaya de Silva was the standout performer with the bat in today’s completed encounters. De Silva led from the front, delivering a breathtaking unbeaten 130 runs off just 99 balls for Colombo Cricket Club in their Group B clash against Nugegoda Sports & Welfare Club. His aggressive knock, studded with 9 fours and 7 sixes, powered CCC to a commanding victory and solidified their semi-final berth.

Badureliya Sports Club’s Dilshan de Soysa was the only other centurion of the day, anchoring his team’s innings with a well-crafted 104 runs off 125 balls, including 9 fours and 2 sixes, in their encounter against Panadura Sports Club.
The day also saw remarkable bowling performances that turned matches in favor of their teams. Movin Subasingha of Burgher Recreation Club (BRC) and Nimesha Gunasinghe of Ace Capital Cricket Club were the standout bowlers, each claiming an impressive 6-wicket haul.
Thanuka Dabare of Chilaw Marians Cricket Club delivered a stellar five-wicket haul against Ace Capital CC, further highlighting the high-quality bowling on display.

Today’s matches saw Ace Capital CC, Tamil Union C & AC, Badureliya SC, CCC, Colts CC, and BRC register victories. Each team showcased a blend of aggressive batting, disciplined bowling, and strategic gameplay, making the final day of the preliminary round a fitting prelude to the semi-finals.
Semi-Finalists Confirmed
With the preliminary round concluding, the semi-final lineup has been finalized. From Group A, Police Sports Club and Tamil Union Cricket & Athletic Club earned their spots with consistent performances throughout the tournament.
In Group B, Colombo Cricket Club and Colts Cricket Club emerged as the qualifiers, setting the stage for an exciting knockout phase. The semi-finals are scheduled for July 25 & 27, with the winners advancing to the final on July 30.
