Sri Lanka Cricket handed over certificates to 196 cricket umpires who successfully completed the Level 5 Umpires Examination.
With this recognition, the qualified umpires are now eligible to officiate in School Cricket Tournaments organized by the Sri Lanka Schools Cricket Association, as well as District and Inter-District tournaments conducted by Sri Lanka Cricket.

The certification followed a competitive examination held by Sri Lanka Cricket in which 253 candidates participated.
The certificate awarding ceremony was held recently at the RPICS, Colombo, with the participation of Mr. Samantha Dodanwela – Chairman, Umpires Committee, SLC | Mr. Mohamed Siddique – Member, Umpires Committee | Mr Gihan Weerasinghe, Member Umpires Committee, SLC | Mr. Chinthaka Edirimanne – Head of National Cricket Operations, SLC and Mr. Chanaka Thenuwara – Senior Manager – Umpire Development.
Mr. Tyrone Wijewardena, Umpire Educator | Mr. Sena Nandaweera, Umpire Educator and Mr. Rusiru De Silva, Umpire Educator were also present.
Level 5 umpiring qualification is the entry point for any umpire to begin rising through the ranks, with Level 1 being the highest qualification.
