The second unofficial Test match between Sri Lanka A and Pakistan A ended in a stalemate on Saturday as neither team failed to dominate proceedings at Pallekelle International Cricket Stadium over the span of last four days.

Pakistan A resumed their innings from their overnight score of 287 for 5 and the Lankans struck gold when they removed set batsman, Usman Salahuddin in the very first over courtesy Lahiru Gamage. The tall right-arm seam bowler was in very good rhythm on Saturday as he troubled the visitor’s later order batsmen frequently and he took two more wickets of Zafar Gohar and Tabish Khan in his morning spell.

Wicket-keeper batsman Adnan Akmal was resolute from his end to counter the Lankan bowlers and help the Pakistan tail wag a bit more. The Pakistani innings soon ended in the 117th over when right-arm off spinner Tharindu Kaushal removed Akmal for a well-made 47 as they were bundled out for 333, gaining a slight 6-run lead over the hosts. Lahiru Gamage and Tharindu Kaushal ended with 3 wickets apiece.

Sri Lanka A 2nd innings commenced just before the lunch break and they had little more than 60 overs for their out-of-form batsmen to make a mark.  Dhananjaya De Silva was clean bowled by Imad Wasim’s bowling without troubling the scores. Left-handed Udara Jayasundera continued his good form from the previous’ innings as he partnered up with one drop batter, Madawa Warnapura to demoralize Pakistani bowlers and build a superb 154-run stand for the 2nd wicket.

Both Udara Jayasundera and Madawa Warnapura fell before scoring valuable tons as they were dismissed for 92 and 80 respectively as Sri Lanka A posted a healthy 204 for 3 at the end of the match. Both matches were concluded as drawn encounters and the 3rd unofficial Test match will commence on 20th May at Dambulla Cricket Stadium.
