Science College Mt.Lavinia who finished fourth in the league and will now play against Royal College in the knock outs semi-final on the 4th July after the win against St. Peters in the quarters.

Science College have requested the Sri Lanka Schools Rugby Association (SLSRFA) on fair-play on the knockout venue change. “Royal has the home advantage but when it comes to knockouts there should be a neutral venue if not all the matches should take place in the same venue without giving preferences to other requests”. says Mr. Jayamini Alwis  the Chairman of Science College Rugby Committee.

When ThePapare.com contacted Mr.Susantha Mendis in this regards the Hony. Secretary of SLSRFA said that “We had our executive committee meeting on the 21st June and it was decided that all the Knock-out matches will be played at Royal Complex”. He further said that by then only Isipathana College objected as they want a neutral venue if they come in to the final against Royal which looks highly possible. Moreover, he added saying that during the committee meeting Science College representatives were present and there was no such protest for the decision.

However, SLSRFA is to have another discussion soon on this matter, but Mr.Mendis said that they have booked the grounds and it will not be possible in making any changes for the semi-final, but possible changes will happen if Isipathana and Royal come in to the final as it is pre-requested.

In terms of fair play it is SLSRFA’s responsibility to hold the matches at a neutral venue. It is fine to play at the Royal Complex if Royal College had pulled out of the tournament.
