The Dialog Schools Rugby League 2020 that was postponed indefinitely may be postponed even further after the Ministry of Education announced that the revised date for the GCE Advanced Level examinations to begin will be October 12th.

The examination will conclude on the 6th of November.

Earlier, the examinations were set for 7th of September to 2nd October. But concerns were raised by schools and students owing to not having adequate time to complete syllabi following the lockdown.

This decision followed after the resumption of schools was once again halted last week when two school children from Rajanganaya tested positive for COVID19. The cases originated from the Kandakadu Rehabilitation Centre in which one of the parents of the children was assigned duty.

The Sri Lanka Schools Rugby Football Association will now have to take a call to decide whether to resume rugby after the exams or call off the entire 2020 season.

The practicality of having a resumption now shifts to late November provided that Sri Lanka shows progress in eradicating the COVID19 outbreak.

If the league resumes in November, it will mean that 2021’s season will also be pushed back to accommodate an adequate pre-season.
