Schools Limited Overs Cricket – Ananda, St. Joseph’s, St. Peter’s and Richmond off to winning starts

As the under 19 all island limited overs tournament continued to take strides during a bright and sunny Tuesday, Ananda College, St. Joseph’s College, St. Peter’s College and Richmond College rehearsed well for their annual cricket encounters scheduled for this weekend with comprehensive wins.

 

St. Joseph’s College vs St. Sebastian’s College, Katuneriya

Aravinda Akurugoda and his fellow spinners ripped through the batting lineup of the boys from Katuneriya as the Josephians recorded an easy 7-wicket win at Darley Road. 

Opening pair of Pathum Madusanka and Sandaruwan Rodrigo hammered 38 each for the hosts while Rusith Gayan made an unbeaten 38 for the visitors. 

St. Sebastian’s – 118 all out in 34.2 overs: Rusith Gayan 38*, Aravinda Akurugoda 4/20, Malshan Rodrigo 2/15, Harin Cooray 2/34.

St. Josephs – 119/3 in 25.2 overs: Sandaruwan Rodrigo 38, Pathum Madushanka 38.

 

St. Peter’s College vs Maris Stella College

Right-arm seamer Randel Senevirathne and left-arm spinner Ashanth Malka captured 3 wickets each for St. Peter’s as they shrugged off Maris Stella by 8 wickets at Bambalapitiya. 

Opening batsman Didulana Medis struck a fluent 55 not out for the winners.

Maris Stella – 101 all out in 37.1 overs: Sanjana Perera 30, Randel Senavirthne 3/12, Ashanth Malka 3/22.

St. Peter’s – 104/2 in 21.3 overs: Didulana Mendis 55*. 

 

Ananda College vs Tissa Central College

The in-form Ananda outfit completely out-classed Tissa Central boys by 5 wickets at Ananda Mawatha.

Gagul Raveen made 62 for the visitors while left-handed Sahan Arachchige struck 56 for the hosts while their skipper Sammu Ashan took 3 wickets. 

Tissa Central – 196 all out in 38.3 overs: Gagul Raveena 62, Sammu Ashan 3/28, Nipun Chamika 2/29.

Ananda – 199/5 in 32.4 overs: Sahan Arachchige 56, Lakkana Jayasekara 36, Senal Korale 33, Charith Buddika 2/29. 

 

Richmond College vs St. Aloysius College

Richmond successfully defended 226 as they beat St. Aloysius by 60 runs at Uyanwaththa grounds in Matara. 

Sri Lanka under 19 Captain, Charith Asalanka made 62 for the Richmondites while Navindu Nirmal made 71 in a losing cause. 

Richmond – 226/9 in 50 overs: Charith Aslanka 62, Pasindu Bimsara 46, Hareen Buddila 3/30, Gihan Niroshan 3/44.

St. Aloysius – 166 all out in 50 overs: Navindu Nirmal 71, Dhanajaya Lakshan 2/16, Avindu Theekshana 2/16. 

 

Isipathana College vs Moratu Maha Vidyalaya

Skipper Chameera Dissanayake and Pramod Maduwantha performed both with bat and ball as Isipathana defeated Moratu Maha Vidyalaya by 60 runs at Colts grounds. 

Both Chameera and Pramod stroked half-tons and followed it up with 3-wicket hauls for the hosts.

Isipathana – 204/9 in 50 overs: Pramod Maduwantha 61, Chameera Dissanayake 57*, Deshan Dinuranga 2/28, Harsha Devinda 2/54.

Moratu Vidyalaya – 144 all out in 47.2 overs: Dushan Sulakshana 55, Ishan Madushanka 21, Chameera Dissanayake 3/22, Pramod Maduwantha 3/37.
