The International Practical Shooting Confederation (IPSC) of Sri Lanka successfully conducted the Pistol Caliber Carbine (PCC) and Handgun Level III National Shooting Tournament at the Navy Pistol Range in Welisara recently.

Notably, there has been a rapid increase in participation over the years, with nearly 270 shooters from the Tri-Forces, Police, and civilian shooting clubs competing for glory. The tournament was officiated by two internationally accredited Range Officers, ensuring fair and professional judging.

Securatec Group, one of the most trusted partners of Sri Lanka’s defense, law enforcement authorities, and civilian licensed weapons holders, extended their unwavering support to promote the sport of shooting by serving as the main sponsor of the event.

The sailors triumphed in the team shooting events, securing gold with four top finishes in the Open Division Overall – Lady (Team), four silver medals in the Open Division Overall – Men (Team), and four silvers in the Standard Division Overall (Team). Additionally, they earned four bronze medals in the Production Division Overall – Men (Team), and clinched another four gold medals in the PCC Iron – Men (Team) event.

Apart from the Sri Lanka Navy’s impressive haul of 36 medals, several standout individual performances were highlighted in the practical shooting competition:

PCC Iron Overall – Men (Individual): Gold Medal with IPSC President’s Gold – Leading Radio Electrical Mechanic K.P.G.D. Danushka

PCC Iron Overall – Men (Individual): Bronze Medal – Able Seaman W.A.K.T.C. Perera

Classic Division Overall (Individual): Silver Medal – Commander H.A.D. Fonseka

Classic Division Overall (Individual): Bronze Medal – Woman Ordinary Seaman W.D.C.M. Darmadasa

Open Division Lady Overall (Individual): Gold Medal – Fleet Chief Petty Officer U.S. Rodrigo

Open Division Overall (President’s Gold): Gold Medal – Fleet Chief Petty Officer U.S. Rodrigo

Open Division Lady (President’s Gold): Gold Medal – Fleet Chief Petty Officer U.S. Rodrigo

Open Division Lady (Individual): Silver Medal – Woman Leading Seaman C.N. Jayasinghe

Open Division Men (Individual): Bronze Medal – Leading Seaman W.A.D. Chathuranga

Open Division Range Officer: Gold Medal – Fleet Chief Petty Officer U.S. Rodrigo

Standard Division Overall (Individual): Gold Medal with IPSC President’s Gold – Leading Radio Electrical Mechanic K.P.G.D. Danushka

The awards ceremony was held at the Wave n’ Lake Navy Hall and was graced by the Hon. Deputy Minister of Defence, Major General Aruna Jayasekara (Retired), as the Chief Guest. Also in attendance were the Tournament Director, Rear Admiral Manjula Dissanayake; senior officers from the Tri-Forces and Police; and several other distinguished civilian guests who participated in the closing ceremony of this prestigious national championship.
