Sri Lanka Schools Rugby Football Association (SLSRFA) organized the under 16 ten a side schools rugby tournament in the hill capital last weekend where Royal College came-off triumphant beating Isipathana College in the finals 12 points to 05.In addition to this Trinity College, Dharmaraja College and Wesley College won the plate, bowl and shield category respectively.
The champion side which was coached by Asanga Rodrigo, beat Trinity 15 – 00 in the cup quarter finals and overcame Science 17 – 05 in the semi-finals before they took on Isipathana. Isipathana on the other hand were bitterly disappointed with losing in the finals as they sealed almost all the trophies in 2014 schools rugby arena.
After the loss with Royal, Trinity played plate semi-finals where they beat St. Anthony’s 7 – 5 in a close encounter. St. John’s Nugegoda in the other plate semi-final match won against Vidyartha College 12 – 05 but went down in the plate finals against Trinity 25 – 00.
Moreover Dharmaraja College beat Lumbini in the bowl finals 19 – 00 and Wesley eased pass Lalith Athulathmudali 15 – 00 to get the Shield.
