Richmond College Galle reached to the top of the list of the most matches won in this season throughout the island winning 11 matches out of 15 and remaining unbeaten passing the Anandians who were on top with their 11 wins out of 19 matches.

Richmond got to this feat grabbing victory off the Aloysians today at the Galle International Cricket Stadium.

Richmondites winning the toss of the two day match held  between Aloysius and Richmond invited the Aloysians to open the innings with their batting. Richmondites applied pressure were classy in their fielding being able to get the Aloysians down for a score of 98 in 44 overs with the Richmond bowlers demolishing the opposition.  W.Ashan made 29 while  R.Dananjaya helped in adding 28 of his individual score to the score board. Looking at the Richmond bowling, Saveen Nanayakkara took 4 wickets giving out 36 runs and Bhanuka Madupriya took3 wickets for 16 runs .

Richmond batting in their first innings were successful in facing the Aloysian bowlers and brought up a score of 169. However the Aloysian bowlers were able to take of the wickets of the Richmondites within this limit in 49.5 overs. For Richmond Hasitha Madushanka added 45 with A.K.Tyron and Chamath Piyumal both contributing 23 each and also Saveen Nanayakkara contributing 22 to the total. Opposition bowler Pramodh Chathuranga took 3 wickets for 35 runs for the Aloysian team and the rest of the wickets were shared by the rest of the bowling. This ended the first innings with Richmond leading by 71 runs and causing the Aloysians to chase the set score .

The Aloysian batting side were better in play than the 1st innings being able to achieve a score of 120 runs leading the match by 49 runs. R.Sandakalum was able to add 21 runs on the board making it the highest individual score of the Aloysians in the 2nd inning. A.K.Tyron of Richmond was stupendous in his bowling and was successful in taking 8 wickets off the Aloysians giving out 34 runs which took him forward with his mark of 85 wickets in total for this season. The Aloysian 2nd innings had left 50 runs for the Richmondites to score in order to take victory. The Richmond batsmen were good enough to chase the 50 runs for just the loss of one wicket. Kalum Nanayakkara left the crease scoring 26 runs and Hasitha Madushanka scored 21 runs not out.

The great effort put by the Richmondites lead them to victory over the Aloysians also bringing their name on top, leading the most wins among the nations school cricket teams parallel with the Anandians .
