Richmond College Galle continued with their dream run this season when they notched up another outright victory overcoming Prince of Wales College by a convincing margin of seven wickets in their inter school under 19 cricket tournament match which concluded at the De Soysa Stadium in Moratuwa today.

After building up a first innings lead of exactly one hundred runs Richmond College then produced a repeat performance on the field to bundle out their opponents for a modest 174 runs in the second innings from 55.4 overs.

The visitors were left with an easy victory target of 75 runs and they raced to 76 for 3 from just 12.1 overs with opener Sithara Gimhana and Hasitha Madushan leading a successful run chase.

Even then the real match winner for Richmond College was their dynamic off spinner Varuna Deshappriya who had the distinction of completing a matchbag of ten wickets for the first time this season.

He followed up his six wicket haul in the first innings with another splendid bowling performance to return excellent figures of four wickets for 58 that brought the downfall of the Prince of Wales College batting once again.

The Cambrians put up another disappointing batting effort in their second attempt despite another fighting innings from the consistent Shanuka Vithanawasam who had the satisfaction of completing twin half centuries.

Earlier Richmond College went on to pile up a huge 306 runs for eight wickets before declaring after 69.5 overs while producing three more half centurions in the process.

In fact all rounder Pasindu Gimsara hit a top score of 85 not out in almost even time while Tharindu Asalanka (52) and Udara Gimhana (50) also fully exploited a weak Cambrian bowling attack to boost their first innings total during the latter stages.

Richmond’s success was even more significant considering the fact that they were performing away from home
