Rest of Sri Lanka warms up for Champions Trophy in style

The Rest of Sri Lanka players captained by Sri Lanka Vice Captain Dinesh Chandimal lifted the Sri Lanka Cricket Presidents Trophy by beating the Sri Lanka Cricket Combined XI by 76 runs at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium on Monday.

After winning the toss the Rest of the Sri Lankans scored a modest 205 with former Sri Lanka batsman Thilina Kandamby scoring a patient knock of 65 runs in 86 balls which included 7 fours. Sri Lanka middle order batsman Lahiru Thirimanne too contribute with 51 runs. Danushka Gunathilaka was the pick of the bowlers scalping 4 wickets for just 30 runs. 

In reply the SLC Combined XI were no where near the opponents when they were bundled out for just 129 runs in the 33rd over. Young Chathuranga De Silva scoring a quick fire 35 in 32 balls including 4 boundaries was not enough to stop the Rest of the Sri Lanka bowlers making merry. Dilruwan Perera & Rangana Herath picked up three wickets each. 

The rest of the Sri Lanka team won four matches which included five players in the squad for the ICC Champions Trophy which starts on 9th July when they take on New Zealand at Sophia Gardens, Cardiff
