>>ODI-record opening stand helps Windies secure huge win over Ireland<<

The home side’s bowlers toiled as the visiting batsmen exhibited some magnificent form ahead of the 2019 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup, and plenty of records were passed along the way.

Highest ODI opening stand

Eclipsing the previous highest opening stand in ODIs by a margin of 61, Campbell and Hope’s partnership of 365 might sit atop this chart for a long time to come. It beats the 304 notched by Pakistan’s Fakhar Zaman and Imam ul-Haq against Zimbabwe in July 2018, while Sanath Jayasuriya and Upul Tharangas’ 285-run stand had held the record for 12 years for their efforts against England for Sri Lanka at Headingley in 2006.

Second-highest West Indies ODI team score

381/3 marks the West Indies’ second highest team score in ODI history, beaten only by their mammoth innings against England in February 2019, where a Chris Gayle-inspired effort bludgeoned England for 389, despite still falling 29 runs short.

Second-highest ODI partnership

Just eight runs short of becoming the highest ODI partnership, Cambpell and Hope left plenty of room (34 runs) between themselves and third in the list. Chris Gayle and Marlon Samuels’ stand of 372 against Zimbabwe in 2015 still ranks as the highest partnership in ODI history, with Windies’ latest collaboration ranking in second. Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravids’ 331 against New Zealand in 1999 is next on the list.

Highest ODI total in Ireland

Just edging Sri Lanka’s total of 377/8 in Malahide in 2016, Windies’ 381/3 becomes the highest ever ODI total in Ireland.

Highest individual scores in ODIs in Ireland

Hope and Campbell now hold the top two highest ODI scores in Ireland, as Ed Joyce’s 160* against Afghanistan in 2016 had held the record until now. Campbell’s 137-ball 179, which contained 15 fours and six sixes, sits top, with Hope’s 170 (22 fours, two sixes) slotting in at second.

The highest second-highest score in an ODI innings

Hope’s 170 was the highest ever ODI score not to be the top score in the innings. This is also only the third time a team have had two 150+ scores in an innings.
