Placed Runner Up In Much Anticipated SLARDAR-AMRC Tarmac Championships 2015
United Tractor and Equipment (UTE) has over the last few years been a proud sponsor of prominent local racer Darin Weerasinghe. He finished in a very respectful Runner-Up position amongst a highly competitive field at the SLARDAR-AMRC Tarmac Championships 2015 held at the Katukurunda race track on May 31.
Weerasinghe placed second in his Subaru STI X in the much anticipated SLGT Super Car event. Having qualified with the fastest time, Weerasinghe commenced the race from Pole position 1, vying with 19 other top drivers for the title.
This is just the latest in a series of excellent performances by Weerasinghe – recently, he also won the Preethi Paliyaguru trophy at the Southern Eliyakanda Hill Climb, organised by the Southern Motor Sports Club (SMSC). In doing so, Weerasinghe beat his own personal track record by almost a second, recording the fastest time of 33.83 seconds at the Hill Climb.
