Professional Sports Journalists’ Association of Sri Lanka appoints new office bearers

Professional Sports Journalists’ Association of Sri Lanka (PSJASL) elected a new set of office bearers for a two-year term till the year 2025 at the Annual General meeting held at K Mathivanan lounge at the Colts Cricket Club grounds on 21st of January 2023.

Karupaiah Ramakrishnana was re elected as the President of the association with Yohan Basura of Wijaya News appointed as the Secretary of the association. Sampath Perera of Sri Lanka Rupavahini cooperation was appointed as the Treasurer with Sudarshana Peiris of ThePapare.com elected as the National Organizer of the association. Neville Anthony of Veerakeseri News Paper, Kasun Kelum of Derana Television, Jayashantha Perera of Sri Lanka Broadcasting Cooperation and Susanthi Premachndra of Sri Lanka Rupavahini were appointed as the vice presidents. Nuwan Udara of Lakhanda radio will function as the assistant secretary while Buddika Dunusinghe of Sri Lanka Rupavahini will function as the assistant treasurer.

Further thirteen members representing the majority of the leading sports media platforms were also appointed as committee members.

Lahiru Harshana (Lankadeepa News Paper), Sanjeewa Dharmasena (ADA News Paper), Namal Pathirage (Lankadeepa News Paper), Prasad Senadeera (Rangiri FM), Sameera Peiris (sportsphotography.lk), Suminda Tharaka (Derana Television), Dinesh S Perera (Regional correspondent), Nuwan Amarawansha (Mawbima Newspaper), Asanka Hadirampela (ThePapare.com), Lahiru Dushmantha (Hiru TV), Sureshi Gunasekara (Sri Lanka Rupavahini), Jayamal Chandrasiri (Lankadeepa News Papers) and Chaminda Gamini (BBC) were appointed as committee members of the committee.

Having being formed in year 2017, PSJASL is the largest collective of sports media professionals in the country focusing on uplifting the professional standards of the sports media community while strengthening ties with international organizations and promoting the welfare of sports journalists of the country.
