Gameweek 2 of the 2018/19 Premier League produced some significant upsets while other results went as expected.

Defending champions Manchester City returned to the top of the Premier League after humiliating Huddersfield Town with a 6-1 defeat. The win put City on top on goal difference while condemning Huddersfield to the bottom of the table with a -8-goal difference after just two games.

Liverpool lived up to expectations as they defeated Crystal Palace 2-0, with Sadio Mane slotting in from the assist by Mo Salah to go 2-0 up, putting them in second behind City by just a goal. Crystal Palace meanwhile end the week in 10th position.

In the biggest game of the week, Arsenal found themselves battling another giant team for the second week in a row in the London Derby against rivals Chelsea. Maurizio Sarri continued his winning streak as Arsenal missed countless easy chances to win the game, as Marcos Alonso scored a late goal to give Chelsea the win, sending Arsenal down to 17th.

Watford continued their impressive performance from the opening week by dominating Burnley, coming out with a 3-1 victory, ending the week at 4th while Burnley remains at 15th.

Tottenham Hotspur defeated newly promoted Fulham 3-1 as Harry Kane finally ended his August goal drought, while Fulham are yet to earn a point in the Premier League down in 18th.

Bournemouth defeated West Ham United 2-1 as Bournemouth remain at 6th while West Ham went up by one spot from the bottom of the table to 19th.

Everton came out on top against Southampton in a 2-1 win as Richarlison got onto the score sheet yet again. Everton end the week in 7th while Southampton end in 13th.

Leicester City got their first win of the season as they beat newly promoted Wolves 2-0 in a match that saw Jamie Vardy sent off after 66 minutes. Leicester pulled themselves up to the 8th spot while Wolves fell to 14th.

Manchester United v Brighton produced the first big upset of the season thus far as Brighton took a 2-0 lead in the first 30 minutes. The half eventually ended 3-1 in favour of Brighton. United were awarded a penalty in the last minute of the match that Paul Pogba converted, but it was not enough to save their blushes. United end the week in 9th while Brighton come up to 11th.

Cardiff City and Newcastle United played out the only goalless draw of the week as both sides got their first points of the season, with Cardiff ending the week in 16th while Newcastle ending in 12th.
