Colombo Cricket Club secured a commanding victory against Tamil Union Cricket & Athletic Club in the second semi-final of the SLC Major Clubs 50 Over Tournament 2025, played at the CCC Grounds in Colombo. The 68-run triumph propelled CCC into the final, showcasing their batting depth and bowling prowess in a high-stakes encounter.
Winning the toss, Tamil Union C & AC elected to bowl first, hoping to restrict CCC on a lively pitch. However, CCC had other plans, posting an imposing 309/7 in their 50 overs.

The innings was anchored by an unbeaten 83 off 71 balls from skipper Sonal Dinusha, who blended elegance with aggression, smashing 4 fours and 2 sixes.
Pavan Rathnayake complemented Dinusha with a solid 63 off 75 balls, including 6 fours and 2 sixes, laying the foundation for the towering total.
The wrist-spinner Vijayakanth Viyaskanth stood out with the ball, claiming 4 wickets for 52 runs. His guile and control briefly disrupted CCC’s flow, but the batting side’s depth proved too much to contain.
In reply, Tamil Union C & AC managed to post only 241 runs. Sithara Hapuhinna led the fight with a valiant 76 off 75 balls, peppering his innings with 8 fours and 3 sixes.
Youngster Sharujan Shanmuganathan supported with a spirited 56 off 59 balls, including 5 fours, but the asking rate continued to climb. CCC’s bowling was spearheaded by Kamindu Mendis, who delivered a match-defining spell, taking 4 wickets for 43 runs.
Colombo Cricket Club will meet Police Sports Club in the final of the tournament on the 30th July at the same venue.
