Dharmaraja subdue the Tigers in a muddy affair

Dharmaraja had a poor start to the game as they were sent onto the back foot early in the game by the Vidyartha Fly Half and Number 10 Tharindu Hettiarachchi who slotted through 3 penalties in quick succession to get a 9 point lead at the 25 minute mark. However the Rajans replied with a try through Gihan Malinga, their second center; Gihan Ishara converted with ease. Just before half time the skies started to open up; Vidyartha took the lead going into the sheds with the score-line reading 9 points to 7.

Rajans got their act together after half time as they scored 5 more tries to gain the much needed bonus point. Gihan Malinga 3 more tries as Bawantha Udangamuwa chipped in with a try of his own after bisecting a gap in the Vidyartha line. Sandeepa Herath, the winger, was the other player to make it across the line as Dharmaraja ran out winners by 36 points to 16.

This means that now Anthony’s, Dharmaraja, Science and Kingswood are the top contenders for the Plate Championship with each having lost just one game so far.
