Petes in final after strong batting display

St. Peter’s College booked a berth in the final with a strong batting display as they beat Lumbini College by 186 runs after posting a commanding 321 for six wickets in the Inter School Boys’ Under-19 Limited Overs Tournament semi-final played at R. Premadasa Stadium yesterday.

Chasing a target of 322 runs to win Lumbini were bowled out for 135 runs inside 31 overs as left-arm spinner Chrishan Fernando picked up five wickets for 25 runs to compliment Petes strong batting display.

Janith Liyanage (68), Lahiru Milantha (80), skipper Dushan Hemantha (57) and Kavinda de Tissera (67n.o) scored half centuries for Petes to post a commanding 321 for six wickets in their allotted 50 overs.

Tissera who remained unbeaten on 67 runs scored four fours and five sixes. He faced only 51 balls for his knock.

The Petes will meet the winners of the match between St. Benedict’s and Wesley in the final.
