Presidents Trophy Knockout Final Preview

St. Peter’s College will set their sights on securing a treble in 2024 as they prepare to take on Isipathana in the Final of the Dialog School Rugby Knockout Championship 2024.

The task will not be as easy as it seems for the League and Seven’s winners. However, a team riding on a purple patch of form will be eager to end 2024 with a high.

Isipathana College will be desperate to get a win in a Final against St. Peter’s as they will still be smarting from the defeat in the League final a few weeks ago.

St. Peter’s College

The League holders will be firm favourites as they are yet to taste defeat since 2022, this last having happened in the game against Science College. Since then, the Bamba Brigade has been revitalised, going two years without a defeat.

They will be eager to retain that tag and with it secure the Knockout Championship in their quest to be undisputed champions!

Skipper Dulaj Nawodya will be looked up to once again as he will be leading the Bamba Brigade. He will be eager to register yet another win over arch rivals Isipathana.

He will no doubt require a great amount of assistance from his team as well as his kickers Rahul Peter and his three-quarter line to stop the potent Green Machine.

Pasindu Bandara and top try scorer of the League, Vishenka Silva, will be two other players that the Peterites will be relying on in the final game of 2024.

Isipathana College

Going title-less in a season would go down as a failed season, and the lads from Park road will be desperate to get off the mark this year.

Isipathana will no doubt look up for leadership from skipper Nisaja Jayaweera as he will be aiming for a good omen over St. Peter’s.

The man who drove Isipathana this season, Shahid Zumri, will no doubt have to play a massive role for the Green Machine if they are to topple the high-flying Bamba Brigade.

Abdullah Faizer and Nimantha sandeepa are the other two players Isipathana would rely on to take them home, giving them somewhat of a perfect end to the 2024 season.

Conclusion

St. Peter’s look the overwhelming favourites, but if there is one team who can stop them, it would be the Green Machine. However, I would not give them too much of a chance, given the form that St. Peter’s are in in both defence and attack!
