Pathum Nissanka ruled out of first Test against Australia

Opening batsman Pathum Nissanka is set to miss the first Test against Australia due to a groin injury sustained during the third ODI against New Zealand in Auckland, as reported by DailyFT. 

In the final ODI, Nissanka batted aggressively, showcasing exquisite strokes. He brought up his half-century in just 31 balls but, unfortunately, had to retire hurt after appearing to suffer a groin injury while completing his fifty.

MRI scans have confirmed a Grade 1 tear, casting doubt on his availability for the second Test as well, which begins on February 6.

The two-Test series will commence on 29th January, with both matches taking place at the Galle International Cricket Stadium. The Sri Lanka Test squad, which will be announced soon, is set to begin training on 20th January in Galle.
