Pathana claimed a first innings win over the Petes

After a long break due to adverse weather conditions Schools U-19 tournament got away today at Colts cricket ground with two big heads in school cricket clashing against each other. It was Isipathana College and St. Peter’s College.

Isipathana won the toss and elected to bat first amidst the overcast conditions. They scored a formidable score of 233 where Shalinda Ushan made the highest score of 60 and right handed batsman Davis Imesh scored a handy 36 runs. Vinu Mohotti was yet again amongst wickets bagging 4 wickets for 67 runs whilst Ashanth Malka also got four wickets for 66 runs.

After a poor performance with bat against St. Aloysious a few weeks back, the Preterites had a point to prove, yet they failed to live upto their standard yet again. They were bundled out for 216 with Sachin Dalpathadu falling one run short of a half century and Lakshan Rodrigo scoring 41 runs. Star of the match Shalinda Ushan managed to take a fivefor bowling his right arm off spin and dismantling the Peterites. Their opening bowler Shehan Sandaruwan scalped two wickets for 39 runs. 

Isipathana came out to bat in their second innings and struggled to get going. Chandula Jayamanna skipper of St Peters got two wickets and restricted Isipathana College for just 77 runs with four batters back in the pavilion. Match ended in a draw with Isipathana college claiming a first innings win.
