Sri Lankan Badminton representation at Paris 2024, Viren Nettasinghe and National Swimming Champion Kyle Abeysinghe took the Olympic stage today 30th August 2024 at Paris, and Nettasinghe played his second match at the games with Spain’s Pablo Abian.
In the first round, Abian secured an easy win with a score of 21-09. Despite putting up a strong fight in the second round, Nettasinghe narrowly lost that set for a score of 21-19 concluding the match as a 2-0 defeat. This marked the end of Nettasinghe’s debut Olympic journey.

Meanwhile, Abeysinghe dived to his Olympic debut at the Paris La Defense Arena in the men’s 100m freestyle prelims, finishing in 8th place in his heat clocking a time of 51.42 seconds. Abeysinghe was ranked 54th position overall out of 79 competitors in the event.
