BFA XVI West Asia Baseball Cup 2025 - Day 4

10

The courageous Sri Lankan baseball outfit went down to a strong Palestine side on the fourth day of the BFA XVI West Asia Baseball Cup 2025, held at the Karaj Complex Stadium in Iran.

During the top half of the opening inning, Sri Lankan batters got off to a good start by scoring three runs. However, in the bottom half, Sri Lankan pitchers and fielders let the team down by allowing the opponents to score four runs, giving them a slight advantage.

In contrast, the Palestinian pitchers and fielders did an exceptional job of keeping the Sri Lankan side from scoring over the next six consecutive innings, firmly taking control of the game. During this period, Palestinian batters added five runs, putting the match beyond Sri Lanka’s reach.

Although the Sri Lankan batters tried hard to mount a counter-attack, they managed to score only two runs during the penultimate and final innings. At the end of the day, Palestine secured a comprehensive victory, shattering Sri Lanka’s hopes of reaching the semi-final stage.

Amila Pushpakumara scored twice for Sri Lanka, while Chintaka Indunil, Naveen Anuradha, and Thushara Madhusanka chipped in with one run apiece.

In the other game, the formidable Indian team comfortably defeated the Afghanistan men’s baseball outfit with a score of 12–4.

Today (19th), Sri Lanka will face Bangladesh in their first placement category match.
