The 2-day warm up match between the Pakistan National Team and Sri Lanka President’s XI kicked off today (11th July), at Sooriyawewa Mahinda Rajapaksa International Cricket Stadium in Hambantota.

Pakistan asked to bowl first, and their bowling group did their job perfectly as the SLPXI were blown away for only 196 in 46.3 overs.

Right-hand opener Oshada Fernando was the only bright spot in the innings. The latter scored an excellent hundred before being dismissed for 113 runs, which came off only 127 balls including 18 fours.

Hassan Ali was the pick of the bowlers  on the bowling front, taking 3/22, while Shaheen Afridi bagged another 3 wickets. Apart from them, Abrar Ahmed and Aamir Jamal also scalped two apiece.

At the end of day 1, Pakistan were in a comfortable position to take the lead as they posted 160/3 in 37 overs. Left-hand batter Shan Masood fell for a well-made 83, while Imam Ul Haq was dismissed for 36.

On the other hand, in-form off spinner Lakshitha Manasinghe took 2/39, while the other wicket was taken by right-arm seamer Kavishka Anjula.

Currently, Pakistan are trailing by only 36 runs with 7 wickets in hand. The action will resume for Day 2 tomorrow.
