After posting a mammoth 394 runs on board, Pakistan A team strangled the home team for 69 for 9 at the close of play on Day 2 of the 2nd Unofficial Test in Pakistan A team visit to Sri Lanka 2021.

Coming out to bat on Day 2 with a total of 180 for 4, Pakistan A catapulted themselves to a substantial score, thanks to the centuries from Abdullah Shafique and Agha Salman.

Shafique was on 89 runs at the start of play and added 28 more runs to bring up his century before falling prey for the leggie, Suminda Lakshan.

Salman took the baton from there on and decorated his innings with a fine century to put Pakistan in the driving seat of this match.

Sri Lanka’s young paceman Chamika Gunasekara had yet another terrific day as the right-arm seamer bagged 3 more wickets to walk back with a 6-wicket haul.

Unfortunately, Chamika did not have support on the other end and Pakistani batters exploited it for maximum effect.

Coming out to bat, Sri Lanka had a terrible start having lost 3 top-order batters within the first 3 overs. Wicketkeeper Nishan Madushka, star batter Kamil Mishara and the skipper Sadeera Samarawickrama all departed in the same over against Pakistani quick Naseem Shah.

Naseem was too good to handle for the hosts as he ended the day with figures of 4 for 25.

He was well supported by his partner in crime, Khurram Shahzad. Shahzad managed to bag 3 scalps, giving away 19 runs to wreck the Lankans.

Suminda Lakshan’s valiant 29 runs were the most made by a Sri Lankan batter.

The game will resume tomorrow for Day 3 and Sri Lanka will certainly have a tough task at hand to evade defeat.
