Kandy Sports Club has renewed two of their top overseas contracts in line with the upcoming Asia Western Club Championships which is expected to be played in Dubai.

Kenya’s  Sevens sensation Oscar Ouma and the hefty Tongan Koto Pongi have got themselves fresh contracts by Kandy Sports Club this year for the upcoming international tournament as Kandy Sports Club eye on winning the Asia Western Club Championship title that is set to be worked off in mid September.

The Kenyan national, Oscar Ouma was a key architect in Kandy’s road to supremacy last year playing his first season on Sri Lankan soil. His speed together with his upper body strength was a difficult factor for the opponents in the Sri Lankan club rugby format to oppose as he proved to be an important asset to the hill country team. A powerful loose forward player, Ouma played at the position of Flanker last season for Kandy but it will be interesting to see where Ouma will fit in this season in Kandy’s all new fresh outfit.

The destructive Tongan center, Koto Pongi was also a part of the jubilant Kandy Sports Club team that took the double crown last year. Hailing from Tonga, Pongi made his reputation in the Japanese Rugby League playing for Honda Rugby Club. He will be the second confirmed overseas player who will wear the Kandy jersey.

While it is confirmed that these two will be playing in the Asia Western Club Rugby championships which will feature the top clubs from Kazakastan, Dubai, Abu Dhabi & Hong Kong, it is still to be confirmed whether the duo will receive an extension for the upcoming 2015/2016 Dialog club rugby season.
