After some shocking battles, Western Province clinched the overall championship of the 49th National Sports Festival by stamping their supremacy and authority for yet another year (with a medal bag of 8 golds, 2 silvers and 8 bronzes). The pugilists from Southern and Central Provinces chased them closely and won 1st and 2nd runners-up titles, respectively.
After a close tussle, the Men’s Championship went to Western Province from a gap of just a silver medal (with a medal bag of 4 golds, 1 silver and 4 bronzes). The Central Province fighters clinched the men’s runners-up title with a medal bag of 4 golds, 0 silvers and 7 bronzes, while Southern Province sealed the 2nd runners-up position.

There was another close battle for the Women’s Championship, and the Southern ladies managed to edge out the Western ladies to clinch the title with a medal bag of 4 golds, 3 silvers and 2 bronzes. The western side fought bravely but went down by just a couple of silver medals, as they managed to accumulate 4 golds, 1 silver and 4 bronzes. Apart from them, the Northern ladies managed to make a bold impact in the meet by sealing the 2nd runners-up position.
