The Novices Judo Championship will be held at Jayathilaka Indoor Stadium Nawalapitiya on the 20th and 21st July 2013.
The Championship will be held for the Men/Women- Senior Champion, Men/Women -Team Championship & Junior Boys/Girls (It will be an Open event with Over 40 Kgs and the competitors must be born between 20th July 1997 and 20th July 2000).
The Weight Categories for Men will be -45 kg, -50 kg, -55 kg, -60 kg, -66 kg, -73 kg, -81 kg, -90 kg, -100 kg, over 100 kg, & Women – 44 kg, -48 kg, -52 kg, -57 kg, -63 kg, -70 kg,-78 Kg over 78 kg
An Open event will be held for both Men & Women and only 3 competitors are allowed to take part. The Team Events for both Men & Women should have 5 competitors & 1 reserve (One Team Per Club).
The number of competitors per event is unlimited however; each Competitor can take part in only one weight category other than the Open Event. All competitors should be between lower and upper limits of their weight categories and all competitors must have been graded by the Sri Lanka Judo Association.
It was also noted that 1st and 2nd place winners at previous Nationals and Ambassador’s Trophy Tournaments are not eligible to participate. First place winners at previous Novices Championships also not eligible. All Clubs and Schools affiliated to the Sri Lanka Judo association are eligible to participate and Each Club/School must appoint a team manager who will be responsible for the proper conduct and affairs of the team and will be consulted on all official and unofficial matters.
IJF competition rules and IJF Refereeing rules will be adopted for this Tournament subject to changes if any made by the organizing committee.
The Sri Lanka Judo Association will appoint all Referees and Judges. Conduct of bouts Elimination system will apply
The Time Duration for Preliminaries are – 4 minutes for Men & – 3 minutes for Women and for Finals Men – 5 minutes & Women – 4 minutes
Official Weigh-in will be held from 0800 Hrs to 1130 Hrs at the same venue on the 20th July 2013. Men : Judo bottom , Women : Judo bottom and T-Shirt
The draw will be held soon after the weigh-in. Bouts will commence at 1400 Hrs on 20th July, 2013. Entries will be accepted on or before the weigh-in along with entry fee Rs.200/= per event and Rs.200/= per Team
The Organizing Committee will provide accommodation free of charge from 19th July night onwards .Food must be order in advance and will be provided under concessionary prices.
The Closing Ceremony will be held at 1600 Hrs on the 21st July 2013.
