No result at Reid Avenue

The wet ground conditions resulted by the heavy overnight rain and the fading light forced a no result to the Premier League Match between SSC and Port Authority at Bloomfield grounds recently.

After a long delay, the match got off to a start in the afternoon as a 26 over per side match but Ports Authority chasing 168 to win were stranded at 117 for 4 when bad light stopped play in 18.2 overs. Batting first SSC scored 167 for the loss of six wickets with skipper Thilina Kandamby smashing a rapid 73 off 49 balls with six boundaries and three sixes. Kaushal Silva made a painstaking 35. Kandamby shared and unbeaten 73 runs for the fifth wicket with Kaushal Lokuarachchi who made 21 off 17 balls with a six and a boundary to propel SSC score.

Tyrone Gamage, Sachithra Serasinghe, Anuk de Silva and Ashan Priyanjan claimed a wicket each.  Ports authority  were cruising smoothly when bad light end the proceedings. Ashan Priyanjan who has been drafted into the national limited over side made 66 off 42 balls with seven boundaries and four sixes while Sachithra Serasinghe was unbeaten on 21. Priyanjan engaged in a 60 run partnership for the fifth wicket with Serasinghe before Dilhara Fernando removed the danger man Priyanjan.
