Twenty year old Nishangan Nadaraja will fill in the shoes of the national champion Dineshkanthan Thangarajah in the Davis Cup team as Sri Lanka faces a do or die battle in the Asia Oceania Group II against Indonesia in the coming week.
This will be Nishangan’s third nomination to the Davis Cup team and he is most likely team up with Yasitha De Silva for the doubles game. The former Peterite and under 18 national champion will be having a tough task ahead of him as this is a must win for Sri Lanka if they intend to survive in the top division in the coming years.
Hailing from Negombo, Nishangan is a proud product of St. Peter’s College and also claimed ownership to an ITF Junior Ranking in the year 2014. The last notable rating for Nadaraja was 407. National champion Dineshkanthan Thangarajah has opted to sit out for this tie while the rest of the team will consist of Yasitha De Silva, Harshana Godamanne & Sharmal Dissanayake.
The Indonesian tie is set to take place on the 15th, 16th and 17th of July in Sukarta, Indonesia.
