Nalanda College lost their last five wickets for 26 runs as they conceded first innings victory to visitors, Dharmasoka College in their U-19 inter-school cricket fixture concluded at Campbell Park yesterday.

Resuming from their overnight score of 100 for 5, in response to Dharmasoka’s 185 all out, Nalanda cut a sorry figure in the face of some tight bowling as it took only 8.3 overs in the morning to dismantle the innings to claim first innings points. Ramesh Mendis was the pick of the bowlers claiming four for 38 while Thilan Maduranga returned figures of three for 22. Ushan Imantha had two scalps for 14 runs. It was a disappointing batting performance by the home team where only Woshantha Silva showed some resistance with a top score of 39.

In their second innings Dharmasoka were 99 for the loss of five wickets with Ramesh Mendis hitting a fine half century (51). Pramud Hettiwatte who took two for 58 in the first innings also picked up two for 20 in the second innings.
