Nalanda College v Kaluthara Maha Vidyalaya

Winning the toss and bowling, Kaluthara Maha Vidyalaya lads would have been satisfied at the half way point as they managed to restrict Nalanda College to a below par 118 all out in 18.4 overs. Dinidu Wijewardana guided Nalanda with a well compiled run-a-ball 51.

Dinidu Wijewardana (3/5) and Sachintha Madumal (3/15) managed to dismantle the Kaluthara lad’s chase eventually dismissing them for just 66 in 16.3 overs.

Electing to bat following a successful toss, Mahinda College spearheaded by Ravindu Welihinda with the bat managed a below par 126 in 19.5 overs. Ravindu Welihinda scored 39 off 27 balls while K.K. Kaven made 20 off 19 balls.

Kingswood looked in control of the chase but disciplined bowling at the death overs dragged the game back in favor of Mahinda College, and eventually won the game by a slender margin of 5 runs.

Joes recorded win number two, comprehensively beating Monaragala Combined by 78 runs. Batting first Joes managed a respectable 186 in 20 overs. Pahan Perera managed 57 as Shewon Fonseka provided vital support with 43 off 27 balls.

The Darley road lads did not give Monaragala Combined a sniff at the game as Nipun Sumanasinghe (4/16) and Ruchira Ekanayaka (3/15) cleaned up the Monaragala batting within 19 overs.

Seenigama Combined Schools surprised Royal College beating the latter by 4 wickets. Winning the toss and batting Royal managed just 111 as disciplined bowling restricted Royal.

Kaveesh Dilranga was the architect of Seenigama’s chase as he opened the batting and scored a well compiled 42 to drag the underdogs to a stunning win over Royal.

Zahira College recorded their first win of the tournament beating Jaffna Central College by 46 runs in Jaffna. Batting first Zahira College managed 130 in 20 overs as Sajith Sameera managed 37 and opener Mohamed Shahadulla made 31.

Good batting was backed with good bowling as Hussain Sabry Hussain Anfas’s magnificent 6 for 15 condemned Jaffna Central College to a score of just 84.

The K & M Combined School’s boys showed clear intentions from the start and reached their target with a ball to spare. Vaiththeeswaran Thanapriyan’s unbeaten 25 in the latter part of the chase, was crucial to guide K & M Combined to victory.

Trinco-Batti Combined Schools’ bowling constructed a 92 run comprehensive win over Mannar-Vavuniya Combined Schools. Batting first Trinco-Batti Combined Schools made 141 as middle order batsmen Malintha Madushan and Avishka Shehan made brilliant scores of 38 and 34 respectively.

The Mannar-Vavuniya’s fragile batting line up was damaged by excellent bowling as only two batsman managed to reach double figures as the rest perished for just 46 runs in 13.1 overs.
