All Division ‘A’ Schools’ teams will be looking to add a trophy to their tallies for the season of 2018 as they battle it out for the Milo President’s Knockout trophy from next week onward.

The tournament is set to kick off on the 16th of June at Sugathadasa Stadium with the participation of 8 teams, who would go head to head for silverware contention across 4 initial quarter-final matches, two semi-finals and the Grand final on the 30th of June at the Racecourse.

The Milo President’s Knockout trophy was launched in the year 1985 as the Premadasa Trophy and renamed in 1993. The tournament has been an exciting contest over the years, being conducted as the finale to the Schools Rugby season, involving the top teams of the League.

An initiative which saw the involvement of only the top schools in the past has over the years evolved to include over 50 teams, who will compete in the President’s, Prime-Minister’s and Chairman’s trophy tournaments.

This year’s President’s Trophy is set to kick off on the 16th with the quarterfinal matches and will span for over two weeks with the final set to be played on the 30th of June 2018 at the Racecourse.

St. Joseph’s College, Colombo 10 rewrote history when they clinched their maiden Milo President’s Trophy championship beating Isipathana College by 19-13 in the final played under lights at Race Course International Stadium last time around.

Eight teams will vie for the prize this year with the top six teams of the league being joined by the plate finalists in the competition. The Premier and the Chairman’s trophies will be played concurrently prior to the main event in order to crown the Division B and C Champions.
