The Ritzbury 36th Junior National Squash Championship 2025, organized by Sri Lanka Squash, was held recently at the Ratmalana Air Force Squash Complex with the participation of over 200 school players.
In the elite boys’ championship (Under-19), the well-experienced and technically sound junior player, Matheesha Wijesekara of Royal College, successfully defended his title by beating Tharul Pinwatta comprehensively in three straight sets: 11/4, 11/7, 11/7.

The finals of the Under-19 girls’ segment drew attention as it featured the national champion, Ranliya Wood, who had clinched the title at the Yeti Open Squash Championship 2025.

After a hard-fought battle against junior talent Nethmi Wickramasinghe of Ladies’ College, the tournament witnessed its biggest upset. Nethmi held her nerve in the decisive fifth set to defeat the former national champion. She won the first and third sets, while Ranliya responded by claiming the second and fourth. In the crucial final set, Nethmi showcased her full range of skills to secure a glorious victory, earning high praise from the Sri Lankan squash fraternity.
