Old Thomians Football Club (OTFC) defeated Peterite FC 4-2 on penalties to win the J.A.R. Felix Memorial Challenge Trophy at the 3rd Annual Thomian-Peterite Old Boys Football Encounter played at the Moragasmulla Grounds, Rajagiriya.
Old Thomians, coached by Vishagan Somalingakumar, opened the scoring in the 7th minute through Anuk Nilaweera with Nikesh Saparamadu providing the assist. Johnny Selvakumar’s own goal in the 15th minute made it 1-1 before Dion Dias gave OTFC the lead back in the 38th minute.
In a match where each half was 40 minutes, OTFC led 2-1 at the break.

Afam Akram equalized in the 53rd minute and Peterites took the lead in the 66th minute through Suntharaj Niresh, with 15 minutes left. However, two minutes before the final whistle Senal De Alwis converted a Dion Dias assist to make it 3-3 and send the game into penalties.
In the shootout, coach cum player – Isuru Perera’s penalty was saved by Salmaan Saeed while Priyanjan Srikanthan, Jaythaka De Silva and Dion Dias converted the first three penalties for OTFC. Devin Ravichandraraj and Niresh scored their spot kicks for Peterites but once again Saeed saved Gayan Rivaldo’s effort. Nilaweera calmly slotted his penalty sending the goalkeeper the wrong way to give OTFC a 4-2 win on penalties.

Chief Guest for the event was Past President of St. Peter’s Football Foundation and Past President of Peterites Football Club Anton Rozairo. President of OTFC Imesh Kolonne was the Guest of Honour.
