Musaeus College once again ran away with a 40-18 win against Gateway College to complete a hat-trick of wins in their annual netball encounter, which was played at the Gateway College Grounds, Rathmalana.
Musaeus College came into the 3rd ever encounter after a dominant 38-18 win in 2019.
Musaeus and Gateway were captained by Randuli Rubasinghe and Aneesha Perera respectively. Gateway’s Aneesha Perera and Vishmika Rathnayake represented Sri Lanka Youth in 2019 and Nethmi Wijenayake captained the Sri Lanka U16 team in the inaugural South Asian U16 Netball Championship, where they became champions.

Both teams exchanged the first few goals, but Musaeus quickly asserted their authority to finish the 1st quarter 12-6. It was much of the same in the 2nd quarter with the girls from Colombo 2 scoring a further 13 goals and only allowing 3 for Gateway. At half time Musaeus led 25-9.
The 3rd was a closely fought, low-scoring quarter compared to the opening two as Gateway scored two early goals. Musaeus managed only 7 goals and Gateway scored 3. The scoreboard read 32-12 going into the 4th and final quarter.
The final quarter too was a low-scorer, but Musaeus managed to out-score Gateway 8-6 to win the match 40-18. For Musaeus, Dilmi Wijenayake was excellent on the offensive end, scoring majority of the goals, with Nethanga Gunarathna playing a brilliant game as goalkeeper as well.

Best Player – Randuli Rubasinghe (Musaeus College)
In the exhibition match, Gateway College, Kandy defeated Bishop’s College, Colombo. Best Shooter was Rashmi Rajapaksha from Gateway College, Kandy. Yasasvi Kodithuwakku from Gateway College, Kandy was the Best Defensive Player. Dinithi Wijesundara from Bishop’s College was the Best Player.
In the U15 encounter, Gateway College defeated Musaeus College. Best Shooter was Onadhi Samarakoon from Gateway College. Best Defensive Player was Muthunima Rajapaksha from Musaeus College. Rithika Sri Kanth from Gateway was adjudged the Best Player.
