In a surprise turn of events, 21 year old Hasini Perera has been named skipper of the Sri Lanka Women’s Cricket team that will take part in the Asia Cup from the 24th of November to the 5th of December.

Perera, who was not in the initial squad that played against the touring Australian team in September has been a regular feature at the top of the order for the Lankan Women during the ongoing ODI series against England which Sri Lanka are trailing 3-0.

Eshani Lokusuriya, Yashoda Mendis and Udeshika Probodini have made it back into the squad at the expense of Chamari Polgampola and Achini Kulasuriya.

Sri Lanka’s skipper for the England series, Inoka Ranaweera has retained her place in the team but has quite inexplicably been stripped of the captaincy. Sri Lanka will also have the services of Chamari Atapattu who captained the team during the series against the touring Australians.
