MAS Active Leisureline and MAS Intimates Casualline defeated TeeJay Lanka and Brandix Fast Lane respectively to win the Super League Men’s and Women’s titles at the 2017 Mercantile Volleyball Championships.

Super League Division

Men’s Category

After a thrilling encounter, MAS Active Leisureline defeated Teejay Lanka 3 sets 1 to win the men’s championship.

Both teams got off to a brilliant start in the 1st two sets, but it was MAS Active Leisureline who prevailed in the end on both instances, winning the sets 25-23 and 25-21 respectively.

But the men from Teejay Lanka put forward an impressive performance in the 3rd set, winning it 20-25 to keep their championship hopes alive. MAS Active Leisureline regained their lost form in the 4th set, winning it 25-19.

Women’s Category

MAS Casualline registered an easy 3-0 win over Brandix Fast Lane in the finals to clinch the championship of the women’s category.

It was a game of total domination from Casualline as they demolished Brandix Fast Lane 25-08, 25-07 and 25-10.

Thakshila Madurangi, who is also the vice-captain of the Sri Lanka U23 National women’s team, was awarded the Best Player award for her outstanding performance throughout the tournament.

Championship Division

Men’s Category 

David Peiris Motor Company seized the championship of the men’s category as they defeated Crystal Martin in the finals by 3 sets to 1 in another hard-fought battle.

David Peiris Motor Company won the 1st set 25-19. The 2nd set was quite enthralling as both teams kept scoring. It was Crystal Martin who extended their lead just at the right time to win it 27-29.

However, in the 3rd and 4th sets, the men from David Peiris Motor Company kept their composure and returned the treatment, triumphing over the opposition 25-20 and 25-16 to clinch the championship.

Omega Line overcame Brandix Fast Fashion quite handsomely, 3 sets to 0 to grab the championship in the women’s category.

It was a trouble-free win for Omega Line as they won all the first 3 sets 25-15, 25-19 and 25-14 respectively.
