Maliyadeva wins low scoring match

Maliyadeva College took on Revatha College today and the former managed to secure a win in a low scoring game in Kurunagala.

Maliyadeva batting first managed to score 140 runs in 37.5 over’s. R. S. D Jayaratne was the chief scorer with a well worked half ton. The top order batsman, Jayaratne scored 59 runs in 81 balls and got good support from S. A. T Manishka who scored 22 runs. Spinner Muthumal De Silva captured 4 wickets for 27 runs while fast bowler Lakmal De Silva took 3 wickets for 53 runs. 

Revatha College in their first innings could only manage to score 50 runs. Their highest score came from the bat of Achalanka Mendis who got 20 runs, while the other batsmen failed to come to grips with the Maliyadeva bowling attack. D. S. D Bandara and R. Jayaratne were the main wicket takers ripping through the batting line up capturing 7 wickets between them. 

The home team in their 2nd innings with a lead of 90 runs made a further 156 runs for 6 wickets in 35.4 over’s to give a target of 246 runs for the visitors. 

C. S. D Jayaratne scored 43 runs while C. Rajaguru top scored with a quick fire 62 to give the home team a clear advantage. Dilshan De Soyza ended with figures of 3/45.

Revatha with a target of 246 only managed to get 148 runs with their all rounder Dilshan De Soyza scoring 51 runs. B. C. B Bandara ran through the wickets taking 4 for 30 to set up a well deserved win for his side.
