Mahanama College is aiming to go back to back in their 50 over cricket encounter against arch rivals DS Senanayake while hoping to manage a win in their annual big match “Battle of the Golds”.

A bit of History

Established in 1954, Mahanama and DS began their annual big match as recently as 2007. From then on Mahanama has gone on to win this encounter on 5 occasions.

Dhanushka Gunathilake is a name that springs into mind when thinking of players produced by Mahanama as the hard hitting left hander is very much in the fray to break into the national set up once again.

Key Players

Captain Malindu Maduranga is a man in-form and will be a pivotal part in the Mahanama batting line-up. The third year lad has managed 622 runs with his 3 centuries coming against Royal, Ananda and Wesley College. His experience will be tested as he looks to take his side towards victory.

Heshan Hettiarachchi is another man who has been consistent with the bat this season. The right hander has scored more than 400 runs with 2 centuries and 3 half-tons. He will be looked on to provide solidarity to the Mahanama batting in the all-important Battle of the Golds encounter.

All-rounder Vihan Mudalige is a key part of both batting and bowling line-ups for Mahanama. He has a modest 130 runs and bagged 18 wickets this season but will be aiming to improve both statistics going forward.

Left arm orthodox spinner Hashan Piumal, is the leading wicket taker for the boys in black and gold with 28 scalps this season. He will be seeking to trouble the opposition with his variations as he aims to improve on his personal stats this season.
