Pramod Maduwantha with a brilliant all-round performance guided Isipathana College to a first innings victory in the pre-quarter final against Nalanda College.

Pathana won the toss and elected to bat first. Their batting order fired with almost all the batsmen going into double figures. But the star performer with the bat was left-handed Pramod Maduwantha who played the anchor role for his team. His 73-run knock helped his team to reach 280 runs in 99.2 overs. He was well supported by the rest, especially by Pethum Madushanka who scored 51 runs and Sanjula Abeywickrama who chipped in with 43 runs. With the ball for Nalanda College it was Ashel Kulatunga who did most of the damage by taking 8 wickets for 91 runs.

Nalanda came onto bat on the second day and they looked threatening at the end of the first session at 110 for the loss 2 wickets. But their middle order collapsed which took away their chances of making it to the next round. The star with the bat, Maduwantha showed his all-round skills by taking 6 for 60. Nalanda College was bundled out for 201 runs in 72.4 overs, which took them out of the competition. Dasun Seneviratne batted valiantly for Nalanda College, his 71 was all in vain at the end.

Isipathana with the win in their hands came on to bat for their second innings and they were cruising on 142 for the loss of 4 wickets in 33 overs at stumps.  Maduwantha was unbeaten on 34 while early on Vishad Randika scored a quick fire 54. If Isipathana batters fire in the coming matches, they will surely be a hard team to beat.
